Military Courtesy/Conduct

1)        The members of the 10th LA Co C re-enactment unit will show respect towards
each other and other units. This was, and is, a very proud and esteemed military
 organization.
2)        The chain of command will be observed and respected. Directions and orders are
to be obeyed by everyone. The members have elected the officers and NCOs to their
posts. That trust includes the expectation that those leaders will perform their duties.
3)        Military courtesy will be observed while the public is in camp.
4)        Members are to handle disputes in an open and adult manner. Grousing in the
shadows, gossip, or other such whisper campaigns aimed at promoting dissension within
the organization are discouraged. Using gossip to promote changes only poisons the
atmosphere and can lead to dissolution of an organization.
5)        Officers and NCOs must be professional and responsible if they are to be
followed. Officers and NCOs are not to misuse their authority. Instances of abuse
include but are not limited to:
a.        Physical or verbal abuse of men with the aim of actual harm or humiliation. A
reasonable person knows the difference between abuse and professional acts or
language necessary for maintaining discipline and good order.
b.        Acts that are aimed to undermine the authority of other officers or NCOs. That
includes active participation in gossip or whisper campaigns, slanders or libel.
c.        Acts that undermine the good order of the organization. Those include grousing
in front of the troops to promote dissension. If an officer, NCO or enlisted man
has a complaint, this organization provides an open forum for that. We do not
promote an atmosphere where problems are resolved by whispering or whining
 in the shadows.
d.        Acts that harm the good name of this organization.
e.        Willful and repeated violations of the 10th LA Co C re-enactment unit Code of Conduct.

The above criterion places additional responsibility upon our officers and NCOs.
Leadership in a voluntary organization is not an easy task. Since our leaders do not have
the modern Queen's Regulations and Orders to regulate discipline and good order, we
must lead by our examples, strength of character and a sense of justice and fairness.
