This Photo is interesting, Alexander Gardner who took this photo actually had his associate James Gibson carry this
Confederate Soldier, Most likely an Alabamian from General Hoods Division, under Longstreet's Corps. Approx. 80
yards into this den. Gardner added the backpack under his head and the rifle. The Photo is one of the most famous
pictures taken after the battle of Gettysburg. This Soldier was Killed on July 2, 1863, during the struggle for the Devils
Den at the Battle of Gettysburg July 1-3 1863
