Canada to help found the Toronto
General Hospital

Sarah EDMUNDS as a Man
Sarah Was A Canadian Woman from
New Brunswick. At the time Woman
were not allowed to fight. Sarah dress
as a man and enlisted with the Federal
Army. She came down with a serious
illness during the war and had to
desert the army so she wouldn't be
found out. She returned and survived
the rest of the war. Sarah was also a
very important spy in the Union army.
Sarah was never found out until years
later when she showed up at a
Company reunion as a Woman. Her
comrades we in shock, but excepted
her none the less

John Burns the Hero Of
Gettysburg
When the fighting broke out on
the morning of July 1st, John
Burns the 70 year old War of
1812 veteran picked up his
flintlock musket and fell in with
the Iron Brigade fighting in
McPherson's Woods. He fought
until He was wounded and
exhausted. Among Cheerful
Confederates he straggled back
home. Even though he fought
with the Federals at Gettysburg
the Confederates let the old man
go home no questions asked.
